Here we go again!

Whoohoo! I'm on my way to a bright and sunny day!

The RV spent a few hours in the shop this morning, getting a new igniter-thingy on refrigerator, a new lock on the main outside cubby, and a light cover to replace the porch one that went missing. All this was for the "house" part of the RV. The engine part is running in top condition, starting right up with little coaxing.

I stopped by the propane place, and added eight pounds to top it off. With the gas tank almost full, my last stop is the grocery store.

Who needs a cart? Not me! I carry all the groceries I'll need for a week to the checkout line. In no time at all, I'm out the door and on my way.

The plan is to head south from Havasu. Maybe get as far as Parker tonight. I've got enough online work to keep me busy at work, so I can work remotely...from anywhere.

I look at the temperature gauge, and it's showing normal temps. This is strange because the engine usually runs hot. But...hey... I'm not complaining.

Good fortune smiles, and the sun beams down!

Just as I point the RV south on 95, my friend Don calls me. He and his family just got back from Parker and are camped on the desert south of town. Would I be interested in a campfire? You betcha!

They're all in town, but he tells me where they're all parked. It's no trouble finding their rigs, so I balance out my RV on the uneven ground.

I use plastic blocks and desert rocks to lift the driver side.

Just when I think I've got it perfectly balanced front-to-back and side-to-side, I turn off the engine and check the balance bubbles. I'm still a little uneven. The passenger side is higher than the driver side. This can sometimes impact the propane refrigerator's operation. It's a known problem with RVs.

No problem! I get a garden tool and scrape away a mark to show where I need to dig into the earth. That way, the passenger wheel can sink a little.

Returning to the driver seat, I intend to pull the RV forward so I can dig the hole and settle in.

I turn the key, and....nothing.

No whir.

No sputter.

No cough.

This reminds me of what happened when the ignition control module went out. Nothing would happen when I'd try to turn it on.

So...here I am. Again. Stuck on the desert in an RV that refuses to move.

What a journey you had for the holidays ! I was just going to text you to ask how you were doing but I decided to check your blog first to see if you had posted. You've been posting a bunch but I never got any notifications. I hate when that happens.

Anyway, I'm really happy that you had a full heart in MO. You didn't end up at the Gulf? I missed the part where you decided to head west instead. Sorry the weather was so wet and stormy during that time.

How long did that new ignition control module last you? Darn thing. Well, I'm glad it happened when you were camping with good friends. No better time…

Engine started! At least now I know it's the ignition control module. I'll be stopping at Auto Zone for the part tomorrow!
